Urinary Incontinence Testing
in Naples, FL

At Florida Bladder Institute, urinary incontinence testing provides a definitive diagnosis to guide your personalized treatment plan. Understanding the specific cause of bladder control issues is the first step toward regaining confidence and comfort. Our comprehensive diagnostic approach ensures that we identify the precise type and severity of your incontinence, paving the way for effective, targeted care.

Understanding Incontinence Testing

Urinary incontinence testing is a series of diagnostic procedures designed to evaluate bladder function and identify the underlying cause of involuntary urine leakage. These tests measure bladder capacity, pressure, urine flow, and how well the bladder empties. The results provide a detailed picture of your lower urinary tract’s health, which is essential for creating an effective treatment strategy.

Your Diagnostic Testing Visit

Your visit begins with a private consultation with a provider like Dr. Joseph Gauta, Gabriella Wright, PA-C, or Kelly Medina, PA-C. We will discuss your symptoms, review your medical history, and analyze any bladder diaries to understand your experience before recommending specific tests. Please arrive with a full bladder, or as close to full as comfortably possible, to help us complete your evaluation.

Urodynamic studies are the core of incontinence testing. Using small, thin catheters, we measure bladder pressure as it fills and empties to assess muscle function and nerve signals, helping to determine the exact type of incontinence you have.

As part of your evaluation, you will be asked to urinate into a specialized commode. This non-invasive step, known as uroflowmetry, is completely comfortable and measures the rate and volume of your urine flow, providing initial data on bladder emptying efficiency.

After the tests are complete, our team will analyze the data. We then meet with you to explain the findings in clear terms and collaborate on a treatment plan tailored to your specific diagnosis and personal goals.
