Overactive Bladder Testing
in Naples, FL

Florida Bladder Institute offers comprehensive overactive bladder testing to accurately diagnose the cause of urinary urgency, frequency, and leakage. Living with an overactive bladder (OAB) can be disruptive, but a precise diagnosis is the first step toward effective management. Our team uses advanced diagnostic tools to understand your unique condition and guide you toward a personalized treatment path.

What Is Overactive Bladder Testing?

Overactive bladder testing, also known as urodynamic testing, is a series of diagnostic procedures that evaluate how well your bladder, sphincters, and urethra store and release urine. These tests measure bladder pressure, urine flow rate, and nerve signals to identify the specific dysfunction causing OAB symptoms. The results provide a detailed, objective picture of your lower urinary tract function.

The OAB Diagnostic Process

Your visit begins with a thorough discussion of your symptoms and medical history with a provider like Dr. Gauta, Gabriella Wright, PA-C, or Kelly Medina, PA-C. You may be asked to complete a bladder diary to track your fluid intake and urinary patterns before the appointment.

A simple, non-invasive test called uroflowmetry measures the speed and volume of your urine flow. Afterwards, a bladder scan using ultrasound is performed to check how much urine remains, giving a baseline assessment of bladder emptying efficiency.

During a cystometrogram (CMG), a thin catheter measures bladder pressure as it is slowly filled with sterile water. This test evaluates your bladder capacity, nerve sensitivity, and checks for involuntary bladder contractions, which are key indicators of OAB.

After the tests are complete, our team will analyze the data to form a precise diagnosis. We will then meet with you to explain the findings in detail and discuss a customized treatment plan tailored to your specific condition and personal goals.
