Pelvic Organ Prolapse Treatment
in Naples, FL

The Florida Bladder Institute offers specialized medical and surgical management for pelvic organ prolapse. This common condition occurs when the pelvic floor muscles weaken, causing pelvic organs to descend, but it is not something you have to live with. Our dedicated team provides compassionate care and advanced treatments to help you regain control and restore your pelvic health.

What Is Pelvic Organ Prolapse?

Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is a pelvic floor disorder where muscles and tissues supporting the pelvic organs become weak or loose. This allows organs like the bladder, uterus, or rectum to drop or press into or out of the vagina. The condition can range from mild, with no symptoms, to severe, causing significant discomfort and functional issues.

Common Symptoms of Prolapse

What Causes Pelvic Organ Prolapse?

The primary cause of pelvic organ prolapse is the weakening of the pelvic floor muscles and connective tissues. Major contributing factors include pregnancy and childbirth, especially vaginal delivery. Other risk factors include advancing age, obesity, chronic coughing, frequent heavy lifting, and genetics.

Benefits of Prolapse Treatment

Alleviate Physical Discomfort

Effective treatment relieves the constant feelings of pressure, bulging, and aching in the pelvic region. By restoring proper organ support, you can stand, walk, and sit comfortably again without the persistent sensation of heaviness.

Improve Bladder and Bowel Function

Many women experience improved control over their bladder and bowels following treatment. This can significantly reduce or eliminate issues like stress urinary incontinence, urinary retention, and constipation, leading to greater confidence and convenience.

Enhance Quality of Life

Addressing prolapse symptoms allows you to regain your freedom and stop planning your life around your condition. This restoration of comfort and function helps improve intimacy, social engagement, and overall emotional well-being.

Return to an Active Lifestyle

With your pelvic structure properly supported, you can return to physical activities you once enjoyed, from daily walks to more strenuous exercise. Treatment helps you move with confidence and without fear of worsening your symptoms.

Achieve Lasting Structural Support

Modern medical and surgical interventions are designed to provide durable, long-term correction of pelvic organ prolapse. These treatments reinforce the body’s natural support systems, helping to prevent recurrence and maintain pelvic health for years to come.
