What Is Cystitis?

Cystitis is the medical term for inflammation of the bladder. While it is most often caused by a bacterial infection, known as a urinary tract infection (UTI), it can also result from non-infectious causes. These may include reactions to certain drugs or irritants, radiation therapy, or chronic conditions like interstitial cystitis (Painful Bladder Syndrome).

What Causes Bladder Inflammation?

Bladder inflammation can be categorized into infectious and non-infectious causes. Bacterial cystitis occurs when bacteria, most commonly E. coli, travel up the urethra and multiply in the bladder. Non-infectious cystitis can stem from chemical irritants like spermicides, complications from radiation, or as a feature of chronic conditions like interstitial cystitis.

Benefits of Specialized Cystitis Care

Accurate and Prompt Diagnosis

Receiving a correct diagnosis is the most important step toward relief. Proper evaluation helps distinguish between bacterial infections and chronic non-bacterial conditions, preventing cycles of ineffective antibiotic use.

Targeted Symptom Relief

A personalized treatment plan can effectively reduce painful symptoms like burning, pelvic pressure, and discomfort. This allows you to return to your daily activities with confidence.

Fewer Recurrent Infections

For those with chronic UTIs, we focus on preventative strategies to break the cycle of infection. This proactive approach leads to fewer episodes and improved long-term bladder health.

Improved Bladder Control

Effective treatment helps manage the persistent urge to urinate and frequent trips to the bathroom. Regaining control over your bladder function can restore your confidence and freedom.

Enhanced Quality of Life

By addressing the root cause of your cystitis, treatment can significantly improve your overall well-being. You can enjoy life with less worry about pain or locating the nearest restroom.
