Pelvic Floor Dysfunction Treatment
in Naples, FL

At Florida Bladder Institute, our team understands that pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD) can significantly impact your daily life and well-being. This condition involves the inability to control the muscles in your pelvic floor, leading to a variety of uncomfortable symptoms. Our dedicated urogynecology specialists are here to provide a comprehensive diagnosis and create a personalized treatment plan to help you regain control and comfort.

Understanding Pelvic Floor Dysfunction

Pelvic floor dysfunction is a condition where the muscles that support the pelvic organs—the bladder, uterus, and rectum—do not function correctly. Instead of relaxing and contracting in a coordinated way, these muscles may become too tight or too weak. This lack of coordination can interfere with normal urinary, bowel, and sexual function, causing pain and other disruptive symptoms.

Common Symptoms of PFD

What Can Cause Pelvic Floor Dysfunction?

The exact cause of pelvic floor dysfunction is often multifactorial. Common contributing factors include pregnancy and childbirth, traumatic injuries to the pelvic region, or previous pelvic surgeries. Additionally, chronic straining from constipation, obesity, nerve damage, and aging can weaken or damage the pelvic floor muscles over time.

Benefits of PFD Treatment in Naples

Improved Bladder and Bowel Control

Effective treatment helps strengthen and coordinate pelvic floor muscles, significantly reducing or eliminating urinary and fecal incontinence. This leads to greater confidence and freedom from the constant worry of leakage.

Reduction in Chronic Pelvic Pain

By addressing the underlying muscle dysfunction, our treatments can alleviate the chronic pain associated with PFD. Patients often experience relief from persistent discomfort in the lower back, pelvis, and genitals.

Enhanced Quality of Life

Regaining control over pelvic functions allows you to return to activities you may have been avoiding. Treatment helps restore your ability to exercise, socialize, and live without the limitations imposed by PFD symptoms.

Improved Sexual Function and Comfort

Many people with PFD experience pain during intercourse. Targeted therapies can relax tense muscles and reduce discomfort, leading to a more comfortable and satisfying sexual life.

Long-Term Pelvic Muscle Health

A proper treatment plan not only resolves current symptoms but also provides you with the tools and strength to maintain pelvic health. This helps prevent symptom recurrence and reduces the risk of future issues like pelvic organ prolapse.
